What is Notenova?
My name is Casey Rule. As a performer, composer, web designer, software developer, and the son of two public school teachers, I am very interested in the integration of online software with music education and composition. I hope to provide inexpensive and free online resources for students, educators, and musicians.
What does Notenova mean?
"Notenova" is a double entendre.
In Latin, "note" is note and "nova" is new, so it means "new note", a name I had originally considered.
In English, on the other hand, I guess a note nova would be a note explosion, which is way cooler!

The Orpheus Online Music Project is an effort to provide high quality, free online music education resources.

One of many challenges in developing a curriculum for music education is to keep the course work from getting monotonous, while still including practice and development for all the necessary skills. Online software allows each student to receive personal, engaging instruction, and allows educators to spend less time doing tedious grading and drilling, and more time with the fun stuff!
